How Much Do Chaplains Make? An Honest Answer
Here is the answer nobody puts in the brochure: some chaplains earn a solid professional salary, and a very large number earn exactly nothing, on purpose. The salaried settings
Healthcare chaplains are the most consistently salaried, generally in the range of typical mid-career allied-health compensation, with board certification and department leadership pushing the top of the band. Military chaplains are commissioned officers on the military pay scale, with rank, benefits, and retirement to match. Corrections chaplains in state and federal systems are civil-service employees. Corporate chaplain services pay full-time and per-diem rates.
