Privacy Policy

Effective September 24, 2026. Plain English, because trust matters here.

This website, chaplainmzizi.com, is operated by Dr. Themba M. Mzizi, Ph.D. ("we," "us"). This policy explains what information the site collects, why, and the choices you have. We do not sell your personal information.

Information you give us

  • Contact form: your name, email address, optional phone number, the type of service you are asking about, and your message.
  • Newsletter and resource downloads: your email address and, where asked, your name, plus which resource or page you signed up from.

We use this information to reply to you, deliver what you requested, and send occasional notes from Dr. Mzizi if you signed up for them. Every email includes a way to unsubscribe.

Information collected automatically

Analytics is off unless you turn it on. When you first visit, a banner asks whether we may use analytics. Only if you choose Accept does our analytics tool record how the site is used: pages viewed, links and buttons clicked, the referring page, browser and device type, and an approximate location derived from your IP address. It then stores an identifier in your browser (a cookie or local storage) so repeat visits can be counted. We use this only to understand which pages help people and to improve the site.

We store your Accept or Decline choice in your browser so we do not ask again on every page. Our hosting provider also keeps standard server logs, including IP addresses, for security and reliability; these are not used for analytics.

Services we use

  • Firebase Hosting (Google) serves the website.
  • Formspree receives contact, newsletter, and resource-request forms and delivers them to us.
  • Amplitude provides site analytics, only if you accept.
  • Google Fonts supplies the site's typefaces, which means your browser requests them from Google.

Each service processes information under its own privacy policy and acts on our behalf. We do not use advertising networks or tracking pixels, and we do not sell or share your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. Links to retailers such as Amazon take you to their sites, where their policies apply.

How long we keep information

We keep messages and subscriber details for as long as needed to respond, maintain our relationship with you, or meet legal obligations, and we delete them when they are no longer needed or when you ask.

Your choices and rights

  • Change your analytics choice at any time with Cookie preferences (also in the footer of every page). Declining removes the analytics identifiers we stored.
  • Unsubscribe from emails at any time using the link in any message.
  • Ask us to show you, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you.
  • Block or clear cookies and local storage in your browser; the site will still work.

Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, we treat it as a decline: analytics stays off and we do not ask. We also do not track visitors across other websites. We do not respond differently to the older Do Not Track signal, but analytics is off by default either way.

California and other state privacy rights. Residents of California and other states with privacy laws have the right to know what personal information we collect and how we use it, to request a copy, to correct it, and to have it deleted, and the right to opt out of any sale or sharing (we do neither). To make a request, use the contact page and choose "Other." We may need to confirm your identity before acting, and we will respond within 45 days. We will not treat you differently for using any of these rights.

Children

This site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Security

The site is served only over encrypted connections (HTTPS). No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we use reputable providers and limit who can access your information.

A note on sensitive matters

Please do not send confidential details of a critical incident, an investigation, or a personal crisis through a web form. Web forms are not a confidential counseling channel. If you or someone else is in danger, call 911. If you are thinking about harming yourself, call or text 988.

Changes

When this policy changes, we will update the effective date at the top. Significant changes will be noted on this page.
